The National Debate, “Unification of Bessarabia with Romania – an act of historical justice, a fundamental step towards the achievement of the Great Union”

On the occasion of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Romania’s Unifying, on March 30, 2018, in the Parliament Palace (“Avram Iancu” Hall) took place the meeting of the most distinguished personalities among the political, diplomatic, academic, scientific and cultural elites from Romania, historians, scientists and culture people from the Republic of Moldova and Northern Bukovina, guests from abroad. In addition to the distinguished members of the Romanian Scientists Academy of Romania, also attended university and pre-university teachers, college students and high school students, representatives of civil society.
The event was organized by the Scientists Academy of Romania, supported by the Romanian Senate, represented at this great public debate by Senator Ecaterina Andronescu. Among the personalities involved in discussions and those who have intervened, we can mention first of all prof. univ. dr. ADRIAN BADEA, President of the Scientists Academy of Romania, prof. univ. dr. ION SOLCANU, President of the Department of Historical Sciences and Archeology within that institution, MIHAI GRIBINCEA – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic Moldova in Bucharest, ANATOL PETRENCU – Professor at the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the State University of Moldova, ION ŞIŞCANU – Professor at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences, Chisinau, Ambassador CONSTANTIN VLAD – Member and Representative of the Honorary Council of the Scientists Academy of Romania, IOAN SCURTU – Member of the Scientists Academy of Romania, CORNELIU-MIHAIL LUNGU – Vice President of the Sciences and Archeology Section from Scientists Academy of Romania, THE HOLY VICAR BISHOP VARLAAM PLOIEŞTEANUL – Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church and others.
As a result of the interventions, as well as the conclusions of the discussions, it was decided to take steps towards for more intense publicity and envolve in political, diplomatic terms, through written or virtual media involvement of decision-makers, researchers from the scientific and academic field in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, proposing to elaborate a country Project for the restoration of Bessarabia in the borders of Unifyied Romania of 1918.
