“A century from the Bessarabia’s return in the borders of the country”

Just two weeks after the previous event, which took place in the same family frame of the Ecclesiastical Documentation Center “Mitropolit Nicolae Colan” in Sf. Gheorghe, on April 12, 2018, we had the opportunity to witness a new symposium devoted to the fulfillment of 100 years since the return of Bessarabia to the country.

The works of the session were moderated by Pr. Dr. Sebastian Pârvu and Prof. Vilică Munteanu (former director of the Bacau County Archives, who came with the material The idea of national unity and its implementation reflected in the medalist (exhibition and presentation) at the end of the works presenting the unique collection of coins and effigies related to the outstanding event of this year). Of those who have spoken in the plenary, we can mention  Prof. Dr. Ioan Scurtu, Academy of Scientists, Bucharest, with the study  1918. Destruction of empires and constitution of national-unitary states; Prof. Dr. Corneliu-Mihail Lungu, Academy of Scientists, Bucharest, Documentary testimonies on the return of Bessarabia to Romania; Prof. Dr. Gheorghe Sbârnă, “Valahia” University, Târgovişte, Bessarabia – from autonomy to union.

Local representatives also came up with important material about the subject of the event, so we have on Pr. Dr. Sebastian Pârvu, Dr. Ioan Lăcătuşu, Ecclesiastical Documentation Center “Mitropolit Nicolae Colan”, Sfântu Gheorghe, Participation of the Metropolitan Nicolae Colan to the Union of Bessarabia with Romania, then Prof. Florentina Teacă, European Center for Studies Covasna – Harghita, Sfântu Gheorghe , Involvement of Bishop Justinian Teculescu in the consolidation of the union of Bessarabia with the Country, as bishop of Cetatea Albă and Ismail, and not the last, Dr. Ioan Lăcătuşu, the European Center for Studies Covasna – Harghita, Sfântu Gheorghe, Aspects regarding the integration of Bessarabia into the interwar Romanian public life, reflected in the documents held by the National Archives of Covasna.

The program of the meeting “Cultural Spring in Sfântu Gheorghe”, edition 2018, ended with a moment dedicated to book launches and the whole event will be completed with the “George Sbârcea” Coral Festival, edition VII, April 14 – 15, 2018, organized by “Mihai Viteazul” Foundation.
