National Scientific Session “100 years since the fighting in Marasti and Marasesti” – Focsani

From July 19, 2017, the Vrancea County Council started a series of events entitled “Centenary of the Great War, Heroic Vrancea 1917-2017”, organized by the National College ,,Unirea” of Focsani, in which they will be commemorate the heroes fallen to Marasti and Marasesti in the summer campaign of 1917.

So, on July 28 and 29 took place at the Union Museum in Focsani the National Scientific Session “100 years since the fighting in Marasti and Marasesti”, to which have announced their presence famous historians, scientists, people from culture and art, representatives of local authorities, military cadres in reserve.

During the two days were presented scientific communications dedicated to the events of the First World War and book launches. The opening word belonged to the director of Vrancea Museum, the historian Horia Dumitrescu, who noted that through the scope of the event, Focsani became a national center of contemporary historiography. Thus, at the organized session participates historians “who have researched, discovered and penetrated into the core and meaning of the facts, events and testimonies of the past, they have distinguished them, they have given them the brilliance, they have given them the truth, the duty to convey to the future”.

On Saturday, were released four books of: prof. univ. dr. Petre Ţurlea – “Romanians and Jews in the Twentieth Century – Volume III”, reserve colonel Dr. Dan Prisăcaru – “Iasi – The Capital of Romania 1916 – 1918” (authors: Sorin Iftimi and Aurica Ichim) and prof. univ. dr. Ioan Scurtu (coord) – “Romania. Great Union. 1918 – 2018. 100 books. 100 years”.

At the end of the scientific session, the work of the reserve commander Dr. Marian Moşneagu – “Infantry Division VI. Operations Log”.
